The Emory is built on land rich in history and community legacy. In 1898, a Texas landmark was built on the corner of 15th Street and M Avenue that still stands today. It served as a place to welcome neighbors, build lasting friendships, and celebrate milestones. It helped shape the character and community of historic downtown Plano. Today, The Emory continues that legacy as it offers residents a place to write their own story in the heart of Plano.     With its unique character and many shops, restaurants, museums, theatres, art galleries, and activities, Plano’s Historic Downtown is the cultural and culinary hub of the city.  Downtown Plano offers a fascinating mix of the past and the future that cultivates artistic expression and an urban lifestyle.  Haggard Park, known for its beautiful gazebo and pond, is home to the Interurban Railway Museum and sits adjacent to the DART Downtown Plano station.  McCall Plaza, an outdoor performance space, is located among various bars and shops and is a favorite venue for local musicians and residents.

    DART

    DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit)

    Our community is four blocks, or just a 9-minute walk, from the Downtown Plano Station where the DART Orange and Red lines lead to the neighboring CityLine, Uptown, Downtown Dallas, and the Cotton Belt Silver line which leads to DFW Airport.  This is the most active commuter rail in the State of Texas.


    With 220,000 daily passengers and a 700-square-mile service area, DART gets you around Dallas and 12 surrounding cities.  Service begins at approximately 5 a.m. and ends at midnight.  It provides modern transit that is fast, easy, and economical.

    Downtown Plano is a foodie’s paradise!  When you walk along the brick streets, you’ll find one of the region’s most eclectic collection of eateries, from a modern Japanese bistro (EBESU Robata & Sushi) to an award-winning BBQ joint (Lockhart Smokehouse).  


    Urban Crust serves wood-fired pizza and a great Sunday brunch while their rooftop ice bar and patio, 32 Degrees, hosts Happy Hour.  Fillmore Pub serves gourmet bar food, like burgers & tacos, and offers over 70 world-class scotch and whiskeys and 80 beers.  If you're craving Austrian & German recipes, you can head to Jörg’s Café Vienna.  Or, to satisfy your sweet tooth, head to The Gelato Cone.  Within steps of your front door is The Twisted Root, which was showcased by Guy Fieri on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives for serving high-quality made-to-order burgers.

    With an 86 Walk Score and 73 Bike Score, our downtown location provides quick and convenient access to the many Plano Arts & Events.  Plano has a thriving events calendar and is known for its cultural festivals and seasonal events, including the International Festival, Arts Fair, Jazz Festival, and Balloon Festival. 


    You may want to see a concert, play, or musical at The Courtyard Theater which has an intimate proscenium-style theater.  Or, you may want to participate in one of a series of classes on Wine-Tasting at the ArtCentre of Plano which is a promoter of visual arts, local artists, and arts education.  Plano’s Food & Wine Festival also provides an opportunity to try something new.  Georgias Farmers Market offers seasonal organic fruits and vegetables plus locally made jams, jellies, candy, and snacks.

    Located at the intersection of the George Bush Turnpike and U.S. 75, CityLine is a dynamic destination with restaurants, entertainment, hotels, and beautifully landscaped plazas & parks.  If you want to hike or bike the trails or have a fun night out, CityLine is easy to reach via DART.  It is home to Fortune 500 companies such as State Farm, Raytheon, and the Dallas-grown co-working space Common Desk.  You can enjoy concerts and events, like wine tasting, or you can focus on your wellness at a spa.  CityLine is a local area hot-spot that has something for everyone.

    Beyond Downtown

    If you want to journey beyond Historic Downtown Plano, there are plenty of places to shop and explore.  Whole Foods Market at 1411 E. Renner is only a mile and a half, or a 5-minute drive.  The Shops at Willow Bend are about a 12-minute drive and they offer large department stores like Neiman Marcus, Dillards, and Macy’s, as well as Rebel Athletics and Bath & Body Works.  If you have friends and family visiting, they may want to see Southfork Ranch, home of the TV Show “Dallas” which is located nearby.  If you want to escape the demands of everyday life and enjoy Plano’s natural beauty, visit one of the many parks our floorplans are named after.  Plano Parks & Recreation is a great resource to enable you to live a balanced, healthy lifestyle.
